Reviews
Tequila, Mezcal & More is a great addition to any mezcal bookshelf and, honestly, it is a great reference book that any bar with an agave spirits focus should have on hand, whether in the UK or anywhere else in the world.
Agave spirits are an encyclopaedic journey, I don't think I have enough time to drink my way though. Anna distills it all down to manageable gulps that gives you just enough knowledge to know what to look out for. You're transported to a place she has a real passion for through her eyes, her lens and her words and it's an intoxicating blend to savour.
Oaxaca-based journalist Anna Bruce takes readers beyond "tequila vs. mezcal" into the broader world of agave spirits. She weaves production detail, regional context, and producer stories into a narrative that's genuinely rooted in place, then closes the loop with tasting tips and cocktail ideas. This isn't a branding brochure; it's a human, field-researched look at the culture that animates the bottles on your bar. [Best for] the person who can already explain the difference between mezcal and tequila-but wants to know who is behind the bottle.
There is a deep, earthy magic beneath the surface of these spirits, unveiled by Anna's equally magical photographs and stories. I will never again be able to drink, smell, or see mezcal without remembering the fire, sweat, and soul poured into it! A beautiful art form.
This is like a giant cocktail, mixed with recipes, a glossary, brand directory, a dash of history and a lot more, all in the name of educating about agave spirits.
